Even with all the election process and inauguration taking place in Washington, DC, far left Congress men and women have challenged the military as being unpatriotic, a potential threat to the US government, and a challenge to the power of the new majority in America. That played out when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called for a “thought cleanse” of the 25,000 National Guard and US Army soldiers surrounding the US Capitol and Washington, DC.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-CA, was irate at the prospect of American soldiers having thoughts that differed from hers and had the military purge those soldiers from Capitol duty during the inaugural events.
It seems that it was not enough for soldiers to be faithful Americans, potentially putting their lives on the line to ‘protect and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic…’ but they had to check their thoughts and ideas to align with the dominant powers coming into government. Was she seeking a purge to remove members of the military for “thought crimes”?
Ms. Pelosi and many of the Capitol Hill gang require zombie like compliance. Apparently anyone who has conservative thoughts, ideas or speech that differ from Ms. Pelosi is, using her words, a “domestic terrorist”! But, that’s not a new thought for her, in August 2020, she said that President Trump and GOP lawmakers were domestic terrorists and that a “domestic enemy resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.” That’s the White House.
She ferreted out twelve soldiers for having thoughts that didn’t align with her view of America. That’s a sure way to undermine esprit de corps, but apparently that isn’t her strong suit or she simply doesn’t know anything about that. The soldiers were sent home, not for insubordination or insurrection, but for having thoughts deemed ‘dangerous’. These are the thought crimes against the state from George Orwell’s 1984.
The 1940 movie Santa Fe Trail featured Ronald Reagan and Errol Flynn.
I immediately think of the movie “Santa Fe Trail” starring Errol Flynn and Ronald Reagan, and the character of ‘cadet Carl Rader’ played by Van Heflin. In the movie, Rader belongs to abolitionist John Brown’s “band of cutthroats” and is seen in the movie barracks of the West Point cadets distributing ‘contraband’ literature from John Brown. The literature was apparently designed to bring cadets into allegiance with the insurrection fomenting Brown. This is graphically portrayed by director Michael Curtiz, and diametrically opposite what military troops stationed around the US Capitol are doing or thinking.
Would Ms. Pelosi have another kind of purge taking place where everybody is to forget their regional and sectional upbringing and identity, the symbols and images that are near to their hearts and remove all personal thoughts as individuals to comply with her version of America? This is not ‘esprit de corps,’ but rather thought control. Is this part of the “new normal” that is talked about by these in power now?
Free speech and thought is what helped create this country. Unfortunately, history proves that where free speech and thought is suppressed, the frustration and angst of the people speak in other ways.
