This is the last day for South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster to veto the wrongheaded House Bill H. 3205, which is a call for a Convention of States to change the US Constitution. The Governor has been waiting to hear from citizens across the state as to what they want him to do.

Founding father John Adams

When McMaster, a Republican, ran for Governor in 2018, he was opposed to an Article V convention (A5C), while his opponent supported one. At this point McMaster has not vetoed bill H 3205, thus we wonder if he has changed his position and not been vocal about it, or is getting pressure from those who seek to control him.

The Governors veto or signature will reveal his true intentions and convictions. In doing so he can protect the citizens of South Carolina and the country by his veto, or contribute to our potential demise in permanently altering our US Constitution.

But a Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever. — John Adams

Lying in wait are multitudes of special interest groups who already have their own version of a Constitution prepared. They are waiting like wolves to pounce on the aspect of forever doing away with the wise protections our founding fathers gave us.

Many of the arguments concerning the A5C are:

It’s possible we could lose our Constitution at an Art. V convention, a convention could lead to eliminating gun rights or the electoral college, there’s never been an Article V Convention—there could be unintended consequences, why not enforce the Constitution we have, instead of rewriting it, the Delegates to an Article V convention cannot be controlled, the convention lobby can’t be trusted, a convention of states could have devastating consequences for our posterity and our future.
