The SC Republican Liberty Caucus announced their choices for election in the June 2022 primary Tuesday evening May 4th.

The Republican Liberty Caucus says they work within the Republican Party. Their group FaceBook page says they have over 500 volunteers working to advance the principles of individual rights, limited government, and free markets.

Chairman of the SCRLC Justin Alexander stated that “I’m proud of the work the Board did evaluating the endorsements. Some were very easy and generated little discussion, while other races featured sharply divided opinions.”

Among those endorsed by the conservative group were:

1st Congressional District: Nancy Mace
7th Congressional District: Mark McBride

Governor: Harrison “Trucker Bob” Musselwhite
Lt. Governor: Zoe Warren

Secretary of Education: Dr. Kizzi Gibson

SC House District 5: Clay Hamlett
SC House District 14: Stewart Jones
SC House District 18: Alan Morgan
SC House District 20: Adam Morgan
SC House District 27: Laird Minor
SC House District 52: Vic Dabney

When asked about the controversial District 1 Congresswoman Nancy Mace, Alexander said “I doubt any Board member supports all of the votes or statements the Congresswoman has made. Mace has been supportive of the Compassionate Care Act, which the SCRLC strongly supports.”

District 1 Congresswoman Nancy Mace was endorsed by the conservative caucus, even though Mace publicly opposed President Trump, blamed Trump for causing the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, and then sought his endorsement, which went to District 1 challenger Katie Arrington.

Trump called Mace “an absolutely terrible candidate” who has been “disloyal” to the Republican Party.” Trump also said Mace’s “remarks and attitude have been devastating for her community, and not at all representative” of the Republican Party.

Mace was one of only nine Republicans who voted with Democrats to hold Steve Bannon, former chief strategist for the Trump White House, in contempt of Congress. She was also the only SC Congressman voting along with Democrats to accept what were called ‘fraudulent electoral votes’ from Arizona and Pennsylvania.

Mace has also often been at odds with many Republicans in the US House and in SC with her stands and legislation which includes claiming she is pro-life when she has refused to sign on to an amicus brief to overturn Roe vs Wade ruling and for legalizing marijuana, and supporting “gay” marriage. In addition, Mace voted for a Red Flag gun confiscation bill in the NDAA bill (HR4350) last September which also included a requirement that women register for the draft.

In February this year challenger Arrington remarked “Let’s be honest. Nancy Mace is a sellout. She sold out the Lowcountry. She sold out President Trump. She is more interested in becoming a mainstream media celebrity than fighting for the people she’s supposed to represent.”

Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene.

Among those at odds with Mace in Congress are fellow Republicans Marjorie Taylor Greene, Georgia’s fireball conservative Republican Congresswoman, and Lauren Boebert, another fireball conservative Republican Congresswoman from Colorado.

Last fall Mace had condemned Boebert for what she claimed were “anti-Muslim” comments the Colorado Congresswoman made toward Somali born far left Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-MN. Boebert is reported to have said, “Well, she doesn’t have a backpack. We should be fine.” Boebert then said Omar was part of the “Jihad Squad.” Omar is the name she took to enter the US, her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, daughter of Nur Said Elmi Mohamed.

Omar was raised under the influence of Marxist former Somalian dictator Said Barre through her Marxist teacher father. She is also a member of the socialist congressional “squad”. It might be noted that Omar refused to take the Congressional oath of office on the Bible and it is an advocate of instituting Islam in America,  proposing to designate July as Muslim-American Heritage Month. She is also closely associated with the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) which has regularly conducted fundraising events on Omar’s behalf.

Alexander concluded that the SCRLC “allow[s] members to freely express their opinions, the actual deliberations are confidential, but these are the candidates the Board, as a whole, felt best reflected our mission.”
