Rep. Jonathan Hill is Conservative Choice for District 8

In a state government dominated by so-called “Republicans”, Republican Jonathon Hill, State House Representative for District 8, is a breath of fresh air – a Republican incumbent who actually fights for the unborn, for limited government, and for the Second Amendment. Hill has been at the forefront of the fight to defund Planned Parenthood in South Carolina, and to advance Constitutional Carry.

Hill has consistently challenged the status quo and stood for his constituents over cronyism. His independent conservative and Christian spirit has challenged the House Speaker and the Senate President for roll call votes that were ignored to cover dissent, so there could be a “unanimous consent” vote recorded. That occurred this spring when Senate President Harvey Peeler presiding over a joint session of the Legislature very apparently ignored Hill’s call for a roll call vote when electing judges.

His honesty and insistence on putting the good of the citizens of his district before the party line has cost him party favor but won over the citizens of District 8. Against all precedent, the SCGOP Chairman is funding his challenger. The Anderson County GOP – those that know him best – have condemned this move. He’s put his political career on the line to do what’s right, and deserves to be reelected.
