During his term in office, President Donald made it clear that he was a supporter and defender of God, thought he did make a change from his childhood denomination—Presbyterian—to the non-denominational membership. He was known to visit many churches during his presidency.
Just after his inauguration in January 2017, Melania Trump caught the spotlight when in a surprise move, she took the microphone at a Trump Rally in Florida. While Melania was the first First Lady to be a non-native language speaker originally, she had no problem at all in reciting “The Lord’s Prayer.” This unique First Lady showed a graceful beauty in her important role that would not be forgotten.
At the rally as Melania took the stage before Trump, she boldly spoke with an even and sure tone of voice: “Our Father, who art in Heaven, Hallowed by thy name,” she began. “With truthfulness and unashamed, she continued: “Thy Kingdom come. Thy will be done, in Earth as it in in Heaven.” She continued: “Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.’
Ending with strong words, Melania said, “For thine is the kingdom and the power and the Glory forever. Amen.”
What an incredibly simple but heartfelt and meaningful presentation Melania made that day! It had an impact that should ring down through the years as America takes stock of its First Ladies and sees clearly that one—Mrs. Trump—not only loves God but was willing to bravely and unashamedly stand up and state that not only to America but to all the world!
DEMOCRATS TRY TO REMOVE GOD
In complete contrast to the open support of God shown with the Trumps, the Democrats have made it much clearer that they are ambivalent when it comes to belief in or public support of God in America. Their actions have spoken louder than even their words.
During the 2012 Democratic National Convention—which this author attended in Charlotte, an amazing one-time event for the city–, a controversy erupted even before the convention began regarding how the Democrats would support God. The writers of the official Democratic Party platform had made a purposeful move away from supporting God that year, in fact. While the word “God” has been freely used by the Democratic Party for close to a century, in 2012, the Democrats were making a move away from support of an Almighty. In the platform and later showing up in various meetings that week (it was even spoken of and explained), the word “VALUES” was used, it was said, to replace the word “God.” (This author could simply not fathom that idea…for example, “In VALUES we Trust”?)
Luckily, on the first night of the Democratic National Convention, a delegate raised his hand and made a proposal. He was a Methodist pastor, and he proposed that the word “GOD” be returned to the Democratic platform. Discussion ensued and delegates then voted. His suggestion won the day and “God” went back in. But how close they were to finally removing God from their entire party entirely!
The Party of Liberality came within inches of achieving one goal: Taking God away from America-at least for THEIR followers. But then, Obama did win that year. What would so many of those who fought wars for America have thought about removing God from America? In times of war, many soldiers have turned faithfully to prayer and hope in the Creator to help bring them home safely, or to see that their families were cared for. Overall, our nation of America was founded by those who loved and fought in the name of God, the Father and Creator of the Universe.
Some may have made fun of Melania Trump as their arrows were sent out against her husband as president—a totally unfair scheme on both counts. This Slovenian “Princess” had all the beauty, genteel spirit, and graciousness any First Lady could have ever had—a hundred times over. And sadly, some of our homegrown and loudest-yelling Liberal Americans Without Faith in God have shown their true faces of crassness by not only disparaging Melania and Donald Trump, but also by even disparaging GOD.
Should America even turn its back on God, will He not turn His back on us? Most likely–Yes.
