In the book and movie both entitled “1984” by George Orwell, an all seeing government always knew what the citizens were doing.

Well the Myrtle Beach city council has decided to join the list of leftist cities to become a Smart City. We will be in BAD company with the following cities:

• Austin, Texas
• Seattle, Washington
• Charlotte, North Carolina
• San Francisco, California
• Washington DC, District of Columbia
• Boston, Massachusetts
• Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
• Boulder, Colorado
• San Jose, California
• New York, New York
• Dallas, Texas
• Chicago, Illinois

You may want to take notice of those named, as they are some of the most left wing cities in America. So I have to ask people what does this say about where Myrtle Beach is heading? Now the people running Myrtle Beach would spin this to say how wonderful it is that we can become so technologically involved with the future. They ecstatically promote this as if it were the way to bring us into the apex of opportunity for us all.

In fact, this is not opportunity for any of us who will be in danger of losing even more freedoms to the invasive nature of the Smart City. The dictionary should show the words Smart City as another definition for communism. This is what George Orwell meant when he wrote 1984.

There will be technology that they say will be of benefit to us all. The reality is it only benefit the leftists running the city. This will become one of the most invasive ways to keep track of all we do in every moment. The city will watch our every move all of the time. Don’t let them fool you, we will lose what freedoms and liberties we have left. That may see like a far reaching statement, but we all need to understand the true meaning of a Smart City.

Who will gain from all this spying? Not the citizens. We will be captured doing everything. Why does the city need this information?

They will tell you it is about keeping us safe from criminals. That may be, but who will keep us safe from the prying eyes of the city? They will not be watching only criminals, they will be watching us all, all the time.

At some point the dictionary would define Smart City as: A communist entity used to spy on its citizens in order to keep them in line by eliminating their freedoms and liberties.

Don’t be fooled by the name. Don’t be fooled by the hype of how wonderful it will make all our lives. This is communism plain and simple.

Look at Red China who watches everything people do in the same way.

We are already becoming doomed as a free nation. If the left cheats its way into the presidency in the next election, America as a free country will be gone. They already use technology to steal votes at the polling places. As someone who lives in Myrtle Beach, and is running for the city council, I will go on record opposing this. I am the only one running who is not on the left.

We do not want to join the list of cities shown above. If you agree please join me in letting the city council know you are opposed to becoming another communist municipality. If we continue to vote in the same people, things will never change for the better. Let them know you are opposed to the Smart City or we will be living in a 1984 world.
