Part 3 in a series

A friend from South Georgia, USA asked me if I knew anything about the worldwide food shortage. She told me some farmers who attend the same church as she were unable to afford fertilizer and looking for alternative income for the near future. That same day a couple of news articles on this topic came to my “in box”. Circumstances which create fear are direct threat of injury, disease or loss, and lack of life essentials. Since we have had disease for a protracted period; the addition of lack of food would likely cause significant mental, emotional and physical health problems. It could also set people up to agree to be like Esau and sell their birthright for relief. So, I looked into the food shortage reports and want to share the findings.

See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son. Afterward, as you know, when he wanted to inherit this blessing, he was rejected. Even though he sought the blessing with tears, he could not change what he had done.. Hebrews 12:16-17

“And when he had opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth beast say, Come and see. And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.” Revelation 6:7-8

What is a food crisis and who is currently defining it? The current internationally accepted definition and standards are set by the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), a multi-partner organization comprised of nongovernment organizations (NGOs/NPOs), UN agencies, and other ‘relevant’ stakeholders who self-describe as an initiative for improving food security, nutrition analysis and decision-making.

Governments, UN Agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders including the World Economic Forum (WEF) use their definitions and tools to determine the food status of specific areas globally. Their definitions: Acute food insecurity occurs when a person’s inability to access and consume adequate food puts their life or livelihood in immediate danger.  The varying levels of food insecurity are ranked across five phases. Phases 1 and 2 are classified as ‘none/minimal’ and ‘stressed’, respectively. The three highest levels of food insecurity are labelled as ‘crisis’, ‘emergency’ and ‘catastrophe (famine)’. In the worst catastrophe/famine level, households have an extreme lack of food and/or other basic needs, even after they’ve exhausted all coping strategies such as selling assets. Like the Hebrews getting into Egyptian bondage with a Pharaoh who did not know Joseph (Exodus 1:8-10)

A serious global food shortage has already begun. It will likely worsen in the months ahead. This is not good news, but we need to understand what is happening to be spiritually, physically and emotionally prepared. When the pace of change is stunning, daily responsibilities cause most people to attempt to carry on as close to ‘usual’ as possible. This can result in being ill-prepared and more dramatically impacted physically, emotionally and relationally. It is a set-up for mass formation psychosis.

The Global Network Against Food Crises (GNAFC), an alliance of the United Nations, European Union and governmental and non-governmental agencies, warns acute food insecurity has been continuously rising since 2017 for a variety of converging circumstances. The Russian invasion of Ukraine significantly exacerbates these. Were someone to desire selecting a place to cause significant disruption of food globally, the Ukraine/Russia warfare theater is the ideal locale. According to France’s Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian, the EU must deal with the prospect the war in Ukraine could speed an extremely serious global food crisis.

Ukraine and Russia both are major exporters of fertilizers, cereal grains and other food basics. They are fighting each other not producing fertilizer or farming. Russia is the biggest supplier of nitrogen fertilizers and the second biggest of potassic and phosphorous fertilizers. Russia is increasingly isolated from exporting. Its entire economy and supplies, under sanctions pressure, are quickly shrinking. Ukraine and Russia are among the biggest exporters of farm-grown foodstuffs and fertilizers, notably of wheat, maize, rapeseed, sunflower seeds and sunflower oil. Ukraine’s access to its ports is cut off by the Russian invasion and its oilseed production halted. Some of the client countries for these Russian and Ukrainian products are: Spain, Germany, Greece, much of Africa, Turkey, Egypt, Bangladesh and smaller countries like Armenia, Mongolia, Kazakhstan and Eritrea.

Rationing is occurring in Spain where they are experiencing erratic shortages of eggs, milk, other dairy products and sunflower oil. Greece is rationing products like flour and sunflower oil due to low supplies caused by the crippled supply chains out of Russia and Ukraine.

Many African farmers are unable to afford fertilizer due to costs tripling. It is projected this will reduce cereals production by an amount capable of feeding “100 million people.” This market formerly noted for its growth potential, now is set to shrink by nearly a third, according to Sebastian Nduva, program manager at the research group AfricaFertilizer.Org which is hosted by the International Fertilizer Development Center.

There are places experiencing droughts due to a combination of lack of rainfall and earlier locust swarms. East Africa and some areas of India were defoliated by locusts. Africa has been a client of Russia and the Ukraine for fertilizer and cereals. China’s agricultural minister announced their winter wheat harvest could be the worst in history. The US is anticipating the winter wheat harvest will likely be the lower than the last few years which was already down. Jonathan Ahl of NPR in a March 14th interview with Iowa farmers said:

Even before sanctions, fertilizer prices were already high because of supply chain problems and natural disasters shutting down some big plants.  Mark Scott (interviewee) says the war’s impact makes it a double whammy for farmers and highlights a new financial risk.

Iowa’s poultry industry has been reeling from Bird flu. The total U.S. death toll of birds from the bird flu is 22 million egg-laying chickens, 1.8 million broiler chickens, 1.9 million pullet and other commercial chickens, and 1.9 million turkeys.

Additional voices regarding worldwide food shortages: former SC governor David M. Beasley, executive director of the World Food Program, the UN agency thinks there has been no precedent even close to the current one since World War II. Finnish Agriculture Minister Jari Leppa urges for the European Union package to have sufficient flexibility for each of the member states to “tailor support schemes to their own specific needs.”

This is opposite to Klaus Schwab and his colleagues of the World Economic Forum (WEF) working to form a one size fits all world government.

BlackRock Inc. President Rob Kapito told an event hosted by the Texas Independent Producers and Royalty Owners Association the very entitled younger generations in developed world countries who have never had to sacrifice may quickly discover life with shortages and without instant gratification. A number of adults infatuated with personal gratifications may have challenges too.

As with COVID, there are notable food and Ukraine/Russia conflict associations with the WEF. In 2021, Russia signed on to WEF’s Fourth Industrial Revolution initiative. Among WEF’s Young Global Leaders are Ukraine’s Zelensky, Larry Page, Founder of Google, Jimmy Wale, Founder of Wikipedia, Mark Zuckerberg, Founder of Facebook and many other world influencers. WEF has focused on food production and distribution as a key area for precipitating and maintaining its One World Government/New World Order.

Neither the Bible, nor the Hebrew language contains a word for coincidence. The Biblical war tactic of siege for starvation is repeated; examples, Deuteronomy 20:19; Deuteronomy 28:52,53; 1 Kings 15:27; 2 Kings 25:2; 2 Kings 24:10; Isaiah 29:3; Ezekiel 4:2. Compounding stressors is part of the mass formation psyops strategy. When done in an environment rife with misinformation due to varying combinations of opinions skewing perceptions, conflicts of interests and/or intentional deception; it accelerates the rise of dictators historically as when Stalin invaded Ukraine and created what we know as the Holodomor.

This reminds us to seek Truth in The Word of God, The Holy Bible, and prayerfully seek the Holy Spirit for discernment in what we accept as information along with listening to Holy Spirit to direct all our choices and behaviors.

“Ye did run well; who did hinder you that ye should not obey the truth? This persuasion cometh not of him that calleth you. A little leaven leaveneth the whole lump. I have confidence in you through the Lord, that ye will be none otherwise minded: but he that troubleth you shall bear his judgment, whosoever he be.” Galatians 5:7-10

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans 12:2
