Organizations Dedicated to Ending Human Trafficking in South CarolinaPart 5

As you are reading this introduction, it is vitally important that you understand the intention behind this series. These writings are not meant to lead by fear but rather by Faith, education, experience and integrity. In the words of Thomas Jefferson, “Educate and inform the whole mass of the people; they are the only reliance for the preservation of our Liberty.” Stay we unaware of the plots against our nation, we remain ill equipped to expose and combat them; However, by spreading awareness, by sparking a continued interest in Truth seeking, and by openly receiving this information you become a part of the solution. You become a kink in the deep state machine that intends to keep you in the dark with blinders on serving the government instead of the government serving its people. The moment you become awake, is the moment you reclaim the power provided to you by God and protected in our Constitution. So we invite you to join us on this journey of Awakening, discussing difficult Truths and rediscovering what it means to be a Free American.

Child trafficking and forced child labor can be found in sweatshops around the world.

If you’re returning, I want to take a moment to thank you for your continued support and interest in The Fight to End Human Trafficking. If this is your first time with us, I urge you to check out the first four articles in this five part series where we address the basics of Human Trafficking, the lack of mainstream media coverage on the topic, the current state of affairs, US Law to Fight Human Trafficking and set the stage for this final entry. In this edition we will be discussing organizations dedicated to Ending Human Trafficking in South Carolina. If you are enjoying this series and would like to learn more about how you can make a difference, or if you have questions, feel free to submit comments where you’re reading this article and I’ll do my best to answer them! As we have explored the seriousness of Human Trafficking throughout this series it is time to discuss how you can get involved locally to make a difference. There are many organizations in South Carolina focused on combatting Human Trafficking, and while I may not touch on all of them here, that does not mean to say they do not exist so please do your own research and find an organization that best suits you.

Defenders For Children is a non-profit that was established in Greenville, SC in 2010. Their vision is “To Prevent Child Abuse, Trafficking, Child Pornography which will Improve the Lives of Children and Break the Cycle of Abuse.” A current focus of Defenders For Children is their Electronic Detection K-9s. These K-9s are trained to detect and locate a common chemical that is on all electronic reading devices such as hidden cameras, micro SD cards, burner phones, thumb drives and more enabling them to find electronic evidence containing images and videos that will help rescue abuse victims and prosecute abusers. They also provide emotional therapy to victims of abuse. On average these K-9s locate 2 devices after Law Enforcement Officers conduct their search. To date, Defenders For Children have donated 5 trained K-9s to Law Enforcement. “Queue” was donated to the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in December 2018, “Oakley” was donated to the Richland County Sheriff’s Office in 2019, “Sata” was donated to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office in 2019, “Cypher” was donated to the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office in 2020, and most recently “Spiller” was donated to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office in 2020 after being sponsored by Dabo’s All in Team Foundation. Companies, organizations and members of the community have a unique opportunity to make a difference by sponsoring a K-9 and leaving a legacy by naming their sponsored dog that will change the lives of victims for the better across South Carolina. If you’d like to learn more about sponsoring a K-9, please visit https://www.defendersforchildren.org/ and help Defenders For Children reach their goal of placing 5 more K-9s in 2022.

Another non-profit founded in Greenville in 2012 dedicated to shining light on Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation in the Upstate is SWITCH. SWITCH offers 5 programs to combat Sex Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation: Awareness, Prevention, Demand, Intervention, and Restoration. Since their founding they have helped 400 individuals through their Intervention and Restoration programs, educated over 30,000 community members, trained over 45 local agencies on how to identify Human Trafficking, and mobilized 71 active volunteers who have given over 4,000 hours. If you would like to learn more about how you can get involved, please visit https://www.switchsc.org/take-action

In addition to these two wonderful organizations, here are a few more who are active within South Carolina. Please explore how you can participate and become a part of the solution!

As you have traveled through this five part series with me I hope you have learned about the real pandemic of Human Trafficking. I hope that you now have a better understanding of the seriousness of this topic and how to identify and combat it. As we continue on into 2022, it is imperative that we get loud on this topic but remember, one voice speaking out in a crowded room soon becomes muffled, many voices speaking out in a crowded room soon creates chaos, but a multitude of voices speaking in unison in a crowded room cannot be ignored. If there is one topic We the People can unite around, it is the fight to end Human Trafficking. Each one of us has a purpose, we all have unique experiences and skills that, when combined, can overcome the most arduous of challenges. Standing strong in the face of adversity is what sets us apart and brings us together. I do not come to the table with all of the answers and certainly do not believe this will be easy but I have Faith in God to inspire action across our Nation. I know that you are strong, beautiful, and here for a reason. I know that you are awake and ready to take a stand. I know that you are able to rise to the challenge, to claim your Freedom and be the solution. I know that you are capable. And I know that you are worth it. Together, we will shine Light on the darkness, put a stop to Human Trafficking and unite around a common ground issue to protect ourselves, our posterity, and the most innocent of this world. Thank you for joining in The Fight to End Human Trafficking, believe in yourself, and go forth boldly.

Your journey does not end here! In fact, this is just the beginning. Here are a few resources you can explore if you’d like to learn more about Human Trafficking. Thank you for choosing to be a part of the solution.
