Pearl Harbor Remembering how we served and survived December 7th 1941 – Personal stories of Park Harbor survivors and their families is a book just released in June 2022.

Book author Shannon Cooper, USNR, served on board the USS Missouri, known to WWII history buffs and others as “Big Mo”. That’s the battleship upon which General Douglas MacArthur received the unconditional surrender of the Japanese military September 2, 1945. Thus, the author wrote about the first engagement of the United States in WWII, and actually served aboard the battleship marking the last episode of the war.

The book is a collection of personal stories from Pearl Harbor survivor’s and their families. It details an accurate account of events as they took place on the ‘Day that will live forever in infamy’ — December 7th 1941, and it gives a minute by minute account of the Japanese attack on the Hawaiian naval base on that day.

Individual interviews of those who survived the attack and mayhem contributed to the accuracy and information in the book. This gives the reader a personal connection with the survivors. The personal interviews and minute by minute details help the reader understand what was taking place during the Japanese attack and a connection with those who managed to stay alive that fateful day.
